Karnataka CM: The politics of Karnataka are once again in turmoil. Congress MLA from Chennagiri, Basavaraju V Shivaganga, has said that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. This statement has caused a stir within the party, and the disciplinary committee has taken immediate action. The Karnataka State Disciplinary Committee of the Congress has issued a "show cause notice" to Shivaganga on Saturday regarding his statement.

According to the notice, Shivaganga's statement has caused embarrassment to the party in public and violates the party's code of conduct. The disciplinary committee has termed it a serious matter and directed him to provide an explanation within six days.

What did Shivaganga say?

While speaking to the media in Davangere, Shivaganga said that DK Shivakumar will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka after December. His statement came after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's statement in which he talked about completing his five-year term. Shivaganga's statement has reignited the debate regarding leadership change within the party.

Action taken by the Disciplinary Committee

Nivedita Alva, convener of the Congress State Disciplinary Committee, said that Shivaganga has given statements to the media regarding the change of Chief Minister, which has created confusion and embarrassment within the party. She said that it is the duty of every leader to abide by the party's code of conduct, and such statements are considered a violation of the party's code of conduct.

The committee clarified that such statements damage the party's reputation, and this is a serious matter in the case of violation of the code of conduct. In the notice, Shivaganga has been directed to submit an explanation regarding his statements within seven days and clarify his intention.

DK Shivakumar's Objection

Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar has also objected to Shivaganga's statement. He said that this is a violation of the party's code of conduct and warned that such statements are harmful to the party. He said that despite repeated warnings, Shivaganga continues to make public statements.

Shivakumar said that senior party leaders should be wary of such irresponsible criticisms. He said that the disciplinary committee will take action in this matter, and issuing a notice was necessary.
