Objective of Wang Yi's Visit to India
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be on a three-day visit to India from August 18th to August 20th. This visit is considered important in view of recent developments in India-China relations and the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. The main objective of Wang Yi's visit is to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and discuss issues related to the border dispute on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
During this visit, Wang Yi will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. This visit is significant from the perspective of improving long-standing strained relations between China and India and increasing cooperation between the two countries.
Focus on Border Dispute
The most important discussion during Wang Yi's visit will be on the India-China border dispute. The 24th Special Representative (SR) meeting between Wang Yi and NSA Ajit Doval will discuss maintaining security and peace on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). This meeting is being held to agree on the resumption of patrolling and military disengagement in the Depsang Plains and Demchok areas.
