Madhya Pradesh CM Challenges Congress on Krishna Janmabhoomi Dispute

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has issued a direct challenge to the Congress party regarding the ongoing disputes surrounding the Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Eidgah Mosque in Mathura. Speaking at a seminar held in Indore to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, he stated that if the Congress genuinely holds faith in Lord Rama and श्रीकृष्ण, it should file a affidavit in court supporting the construction of a Krishna temple at the disputed site.

CM Yadav further stated, “Congress leaders claim that Lord Rama belongs to them, but during the Ram Temple movement, they openly opposed it. Now that a temple is being built in Ayodhya following the Supreme Court’s decision, the Congress must prove that it is not adopting a double standard when it comes to matters of faith.”

The Shahi Eidgah Dispute Remains in the Spotlight

Following the Chief Minister’s remarks, the Mathura dispute has once again become the center of political debate. The Hindu side claims that during the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb’s reign, a temple dedicated to Lord श्रीकृष्ण was demolished and replaced with the Shahi Eidgah Mosque.

The matter is currently pending in court.

Congress Also Targeted Over the Emergency

BJP Rajya Sabha MP and National Spokesperson Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, who was also present at the event, launched a sharp attack on the Congress. He asserted that Indira Gandhi’s government had begun to control constitutional institutions even before implementing the Emergency in 1975. Trivedi described the Emergency as the “biggest assault on democracy,” highlighting how media, the judiciary, and the legislature were all subjected to control during that period.

Trivedi stated that the Congress routinely blames the Election Commission after every election loss and mocks democracy. “Only after the Emergency was lifted could the true democracy be restored in the country.” He also added that India is not only the world’s largest democracy but also the “mother of democracy.”
