Madhya Pradesh: Income Certificates Show ₹3 and ₹0 Income, Sparks Outrage

A shocking case regarding the functioning of the government system has come to light in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, astonishing everyone. Two income certificates issued from Kothi Tehsil and Uchehra Tehsil of the district have garnered significant attention on social media. In these certificates, the annual income of one person is shown as ₹3, while the other's is shown as zero. As soon as these documents went viral, they became a topic of discussion among the people, raising questions about the credibility of government records.

The income certificate issued by Kothi Tehsil to Ramswaroop, son of Shyamlal, a resident of Nayagaon, shows his annual income as only ₹3. That is, just 25 paise per month. This certificate was issued on July 22, 2025, and is also signed by Tehsildar Saurabh Dwivedi. Meanwhile, another certificate issued by Uchehra Tehsil to Sandeep Kumar Namdev, a resident of Amdari, states his annual income as zero rupees. After both cases came to light, people are making fun of it on social media and questioning how the government system can make such a big mistake.

Excuse of ‘Clerical Error’ and Certificate Revoked

As soon as the matter went viral, the administration swung into action. Tehsildar Saurabh Dwivedi, calling the matter a "clerical error," revoked Ramswaroop's income certificate and a new certificate was issued. However, before this, the news had spread so rapidly on social media that it became difficult to cover up the administrative error.

Taking the seriousness of the matter into account, District Collector Dr. Satish Kumar Yash reprimanded the Tehsildar and the operator of the Public Service Center and directed them to submit an investigation report as soon as possible. Along with this, the Collector has made it clear that such negligence will not be tolerated in the future.

Victim Denies Applying

The case took an even more complicated turn when the victim, Ramswaroop, told the media in a conversation that he had never applied for an income certificate. This statement has raised serious questions about the functioning of the government system. If the person did not apply, then how and on what basis was the certificate issued?

This question has raised questions about the transparency and credibility of the entire administrative process. Many people believe that this is not just a clerical mistake, but the result of the disarray and negligence prevailing in the system. At the same time, some people are considering it a systematic lapse, which can be used for some other purpose by preparing false documents in the name of the government.

Matter Resonated on Social Media

As soon as the copies of these certificates went viral on social media, the general public also started cornering the administration. The government's working style was heavily mocked through memes, comments, and taunting posts. The special thing was that the villagers, who are often considered less educated, identified this mistake and drew the attention of the entire country towards it through social media.

Now the administration is talking about investigating both these cases, but the question is whether such cases are not monitored until there is a complaint? Has it become a habit of the system to certify documents without cross-checking?

Is the Government System Based on Paperwork?

This case is not just a mistake of one certificate, but it shows that many times government documents remain just paperwork. Important documents like income certificates, which play an important role in getting scholarships, government schemes and financial assistance, if issued without investigation, are not only harmful for the person concerned, but also affect the credibility of the entire administrative system.

Now it remains to be seen how much transparency the district administration shows in this matter and what concrete steps are taken to prevent such errors in the future.
