Security forces and Manipur Police arrested five suspected individuals in separate operations conducted on August 12 across Churachandpur, Kakching, Imphal West and Thoubal districts. The arrests were linked to alleged associations with militant organisations and alleged extortion activities.
Security forces conducted an operation in Khengjang village in Churachandpur district and arrested two people allegedly linked to the United Kuki National Army (UKNA).
During a search, security forces recovered an AK rifle and its magazine, 12 rounds of 7.62 mm calibre ammunition, a 9 mm pistol and its magazine. A Baofeng radio set and a Royal Enfield motorcycle were also seized.
The two suspects were taken into custody and are being questioned about their alleged association with the organisation, contacts, movements and activities.
In Kakching district, security forces conducted an operation in the Hiyanglam Awang Leikai area and arrested 45-year-old Wahengbam Apoicha Meitei, also known as Michael.
Security agencies identified him as an alleged active cadre of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA). He is being questioned about his alleged organisational role and other activities.
Manipur Police arrested 38-year-old Longjam Arjun, also known as Naobi, during another operation in Imphal West district. Police identified him as an alleged active cadre of the banned organisation KCP (MJC) and said he was allegedly involved in extortion activities.
Arjun was arrested from his current location under the Sekmai police station area. According to officials, he is originally from Samurou Makha Leikai and was allegedly residing in the Senjam Chirang area.

Police are investigating his alleged role in extortion activities and his contacts and network.
Another operation was conducted in Thoubal district. Teams of Thoubal CDO carried out a search operation in the Sapam area under Khongjom police station based on specific intelligence.
During the operation, 41-year-old Chongtham Premchand Singh was arrested. Officials identified him as an alleged active cadre of KYKL and said he was allegedly involved in extortion activities.
Security agencies are questioning him about the alleged extortion activities and his links with the organisation.
The Churachandpur operation resulted in the recovery of an AK rifle, 7.62 mm ammunition, a 9 mm pistol, a Baofeng radio set and a Royal Enfield motorcycle.
The recovered weapons and communication equipment are part of the ongoing investigation. Agencies are examining the alleged links and activities of the two suspects.
The five arrested individuals are being investigated for their alleged links to militant organisations and alleged extortion activities. Agencies are also examining their contacts, movements and possible network connections.
