The blasts near Delhi's Red Fort and at the Nowgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir have shaken the nation. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has expressed deep sorrow over both incidents.

Jammu: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed deep grief and bly condemned the powerful explosion near Delhi's Red Fort and the sudden blast at the Nowgam police station. She stated that in such tragic times, the nation must stand together with dialogue, empathy, and unity, adding that patience and humanity are most needed today.

Mehbooba Mufti emphasized that the killing of innocent people cannot be the solution to any ideology or grievance, as violence wounds the soul of humanity. She demanded a fair and transparent investigation, stating that no innocent person should be tortured in the name of interrogation.

Grief Over Red Fort and Nowgam Blasts

Strongly condemning both incidents, Mehbooba Mufti stated that such attacks create an atmosphere of fear among common people, which cannot be justified in any way. She asserted that violence only harms humanity and pushes society backward. According to her, this is a time for the country to prioritize patience and human values.

Addressing the party's executive meeting on Sunday, she stated that the solution to any ideology, grievance, or political disagreement cannot come at the cost of innocent lives. Violence only deepens wounds; it does not provide solutions. She added, "The process of justice should not come at the cost of dignity. Torturing any innocent person in the name of interrogation is a clear violation of human rights."

Need to Learn from Past Experiences

Mehbooba Mufti said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed years of suppression, violence, and distrust, but these methods have only complicated problems rather than solving them. She stated that the continuous use of force has increased despair and alienation among people, thus there is now a need to improve the situation through sensitivity and effective dialogue.

According to her, Kashmir has not been given a chance to recover since the decisions of August 5, 2019. Today, there is a need for the national leadership to engage with those generations whose ancestors chose to stand with India.

Appeal for Compassion and Opportunity for Youth

Commenting on the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba stated that the real strength of the state lies in its youth. She expressed concern that many educated young people today have come under suspicion, which is a dangerous trend. She added that pushing youth towards violence or extremism is detrimental to society.
Mehbooba also said that education alone is not enough to curb extreme ideologies—youth also need opportunities, a secure environment, and a sense of belonging.

Mehbooba Mufti stated that this is a critically important time for the country when all communities need to engage with each other with sensitivity. The way to overcome increasing distances and alienation is not through suppression, but through compassion and dialogue.
