Shahid and Mira's Arranged Marriage
In 2015, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput entered into an arranged marriage. Shahid was 34 years old at the time, while Mira was only 21. After marriage, Mira welcomed daughter Misha in 2016 and became the mother of son Zain in 2018. This means she began managing family responsibilities immediately after her wedding.
In the 'Moment of Silence' podcast, Mira revealed that her life underwent a significant transformation after marriage. She said: "When I was newly married, I felt isolated. Shahid and I were at different stages of life. Due to this, I often felt a sense of detachment." According to Mira, maintaining the same level of connection with friends was not possible due to family responsibilities and adjusting to married life.
Seeing Friends, She Thought – I Wish I Could Do That Too
Mira shared that after marriage, when she saw her friends pursuing higher studies, studying abroad, or traveling, she would often question things. I used to think, I wish I could do all those things that my friends are doing. But my focus was on family and children. Mira Rajput admitted that her relationship with her friends was not the same after marriage. Initially, friends couldn't understand why she was talking so little.
Friends' reactions were like – 'What? You got married and left this place? Have you forgotten us?' But the reality was that I was extremely busy. Mira said that gradually, when her friends also went through the same phase of marriage and family life, they understood Mira's situation, and their relationships strengthened.
Mira Rajput acknowledged that her life also saw major changes due to the arranged marriage. After marriage, it took me time to adjust. Maintaining friendships amidst a new city, a new family, and new responsibilities was not easy. But with time, everything balanced out.
