Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) spokesperson Prakash Mahajan has resigned from the party. He stated that he was ignored within the party, despite having minimal expectations.
Mumbai: A new controversy has emerged in the political landscape of Maharashtra. Prakash Mahajan, brother of former Union Minister and late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, has resigned from his post as spokesperson of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). He has accused the party of never appreciating his work, and instead, blaming him for mistakes he never committed.
Prakash Mahajan made this decision public through a video message. In this video, he stated that the continuous neglect he faced within the party and the disregard for his contributions are the primary reasons for his resignation.
Reasons Behind the Resignation
Prakash Mahajan elaborated on the reasons for his decision in the video. He said, "For the past few days, I felt I should stop somewhere. I should have stopped after the Pahalgam incident. But I thought the situation would improve. Personally, my expectations were limited, but I was greatly ignored."
Mahajan stated that during the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, he was never consulted for advice and was only used for campaigning. He fulfilled his responsibilities with honesty, but his work was not appreciated. Instead, he was blamed for mistakes he never made.
Discontent with Raj Thackeray and MNS
Prakash Mahajan stated that his resignation is due to a lack of respect within the MNS, led by Raj Thackeray. He clarified that he has no plans to join any other party. Mahajan said, "I apologize to MNS leader Amit Thackeray. I had promised him that I would work with him and his son. But unfortunately, the circumstances are such that I cannot fulfill my promise."
He also mentioned that sometimes a person doesn't get their due, and it's a matter of fate. Prakash Mahajan also referred to some specific incidents that increased his dissatisfaction. He said that Raj Thackeray's views on the Kumbh Mela and his comments after the Pahalgam terrorist attack were inappropriate and negative for him. Additionally, he did not receive party support during the threat issued by BJP leader Narayan Rane.
Mahajan stated that his increasing age and the lack of respect within the party compelled him to take this step. He recalled that he always worked for the party with a spirit of defending Hindutva.
