Before the next season of the Pakistan Super League, there is a lot of turmoil among franchise owners. In this regard, Ali Khan Tareen, owner of Multan Sultans, who had a long-standing dispute with the Pakistan Cricket Board, has now decided to withdraw from the league.

SPORTS NEWS: Big news has emerged for cricket fans and the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) even before the next season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Multan Sultans owner Ali Khan Tareen has decided to leave the franchise after a long-standing dispute. This move has created new challenges for the PCB ahead of the upcoming season, as they will have to find new owners for three teams.

Ali Khan Tareen Announces Departure from the League

Multan Sultans owner Ali Khan Tareen informed fans through a social media post that he is parting ways with the PSL. He wrote,

'I know I am not liked by everyone, and because of this, many controversies have arisen. I never try to play it safe, nor will I compromise on my principles. I would rather lose this team while standing on my own feet than appear to beg before anyone. Therefore, I have decided to bid it farewell.'

Tareen had not been on good terms with the PSL and PCB for some time, and he had shared his thoughts on the matter on social media. Due to this dispute, the PCB had also issued him a notice. Ali Khan clarified that despite year-on-year financial losses, he never considered backing down.

PCB Broke the Contract

According to reports regarding Multan Sultans' franchise agreement, it was neither suspended nor terminated. The team was a compliant franchise. However, by not issuing the EY report and a fresh offer letter, the PCB itself broke the contract. The Multan Sultans team has performed brilliantly in the history of PSL. The team won the title in 2021 and was runner-up three times. The team's withdrawal will not only challenge the PCB to find new owners but will also escalate discussions and reactions among fans regarding this decision.

The PCB has decided to conduct the player auction for the upcoming PSL season in the first week of January. Before that, completing the search for new franchise owners has become a priority for the board. This step could affect the PSL's league structure and the fan experience.
