Last Updated: 1 hour ago

Life in Mumbai has been disrupted due to heavy rains, with schools closed and waterlogging. Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR and UP continue to experience humidity. The IMD has predicted relief-bringing rain from September 30.

Weather Update: The month of September is nearing its end, but the weather in many states across the country is still not normal. Usually, by this time, the monsoon begins its retreat and the rain spell starts to subside. However, this time the situation is different. Heavy rains are occurring in Maharashtra, especially Mumbai and surrounding districts, disrupting daily life. Meanwhile, humid heat is bothering people in several parts of North India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted changes in the weather in the coming days.

Delayed Monsoon Retreat

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon's retreat from the country has begun, but its effects are not yet visible in all states. Rain continues in Maharashtra, Mumbai, and some parts of South India. The department states that similar weather conditions are likely to persist for the next few days.

When Will Delhi-NCR Get Relief from Humidity?

The national capital Delhi and surrounding regions have been experiencing intense humidity and heat for the past few days. People are constantly waiting for rain. The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of rain in Delhi-NCR on September 30 and October 1. However, there will be cloud movement today, but the chances of rain are low. If the prediction is correct, Delhi residents could get relief from the humid heat during these two days.

Uttar Pradesh Weather

The western districts of Uttar Pradesh are currently experiencing humid heat. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain in Lucknow and surrounding areas between September 30 and October 3. Some districts in Eastern UP also have a possibility of light rain during the same period. Rain is expected on September 29 in districts like Jhansi, Mathura, Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Kaushambi, and Prayagraj.

Chaos Due to Rain in Mumbai

Heavy rain has been lashing Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, for several days. Continuous rainfall has led to waterlogging in many parts of the city. The situation has also worsened in Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts. In view of the IMD's red alert, schools in Mumbai have been closed today. Many private companies and institutions have also provided work-from-home facilities to their employees. The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rain may continue in Mumbai and surrounding areas today.

Situation in South India

Many states in South India are also experiencing continuous rainfall. People in Kerala are facing difficulties due to incessant rain. Several low-lying areas are waterlogged, and traffic has been affected. The Meteorological Department has predicted that rain is likely to continue here for the next few days.

Weather in Eastern India

People in Bihar are currently troubled by humid heat. There is little chance of relief from it for the next two to three days. The Meteorological Department states that light to moderate rain may occur in some districts of Bihar between October 1 and 4. A change in weather is expected only after this period.

Impact of Rain and Humidity

Continuous rain and humid heat are affecting people's daily routines and health. Due to waterlogging in Mumbai, the traffic system has collapsed. Vehicles are getting stuck in water in many areas, causing problems for people. Meanwhile, in states like Delhi and UP, humidity is making it difficult for people to go out. Experts say that the risk of infections and diseases like dengue also increases during this weather.
