Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹5,650 crore in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The programme will take place ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
According to official information, the Prime Minister will also address a National Democratic Alliance rally at 6.30 pm. Leaders from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Pattali Makkal Katchi, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and Tamil Maanila Congress are expected to share the stage.
Under the programme, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution Network of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. The project will be implemented in the Nilgiris and Erode districts with an investment of more than ₹3,680 crore. The network is expected to provide PNG connections to around 8.8 lakh households, supply gas to more than 200 commercial establishments and establish more than 201 CNG stations.
Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the Indian Oil Corporation Limited Lube Plant at Manali in Chennai. The plant has a production capacity of 672 thousand metric tonnes per year and is expected to contribute to India’s lubricant manufacturing capacity and the oil and gas sector.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the Prime Minister will inaugurate 89 rural roads with a combined length of 370 kilometres. According to official information, the roads are intended to improve connectivity to markets, schools and health centres in rural areas.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a greenfield bypass near Gangaikonda Cholapuram on National Highway 81. During the programme, he will flag off two Amrit Bharat Express trains, two Express trains and one Passenger train service. The services are intended to strengthen rail connectivity between Tamil Nadu and Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and eastern India.
Bharatiya Janata Party Tamil Nadu in-charge Piyush Goyal said the National Democratic Alliance would establish better governance in the state. He stated that the public would support the alliance for governance and development.
In a social media post, Prime Minister Modi said the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is concerned about the growing popularity of the National Democratic Alliance. He stated that people are tired of corruption and incomplete projects and are associating with the alliance’s development agenda.
The Prime Minister also stated that the Union Cabinet has declared Madurai Airport as an international airport. According to the statement, the decision is expected to expand tourism, trade and economic opportunities in southern Tamil Nadu and strengthen the city’s global connectivity and local economy.
