Amid continuing speculation over the political future of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, discussions within Bihar’s ruling establishment have intensified, with internal political alignments within the government drawing attention.
Political sources indicate that if Nitish Kumar distances himself from active politics or steps down from the post of chief minister, senior minister Bijendra Yadav, regarded as one of Kumar’s closest associates, may also be unwilling to continue in his ministerial position.
According to political sources, Bijendra Yadav has long been considered a trusted leader within Nitish Kumar’s political circle and has played a key role in several major decisions of the state government. His political stance is widely believed to depend largely on the course of action taken by the chief minister.
If a change in leadership takes place, Yadav may reconsider his role within the government.
Political discussions have also intensified regarding the position of senior state minister Ashok Choudhary. It is being suggested that his influence may not remain the same if the political balance of power changes.
Choudhary has been regarded as one of the chief minister’s close associates and has played an active role in several important government decisions. However, if the balance of power within the government shifts, his position in the cabinet could also be affected.
Political discussions have also focused on the chief minister’s so-called “kitchen cabinet.” The term refers to a small but influential group consisting of select ministers and advisers who provide direct counsel to the chief minister on key government decisions.
In the Bihar government, several leaders are considered to be part of this informal group.
If a leadership change occurs, the influence and authority of this kitchen cabinet may also change. The roles of some leaders could become limited, while new figures may emerge.
Political analysts say that Bihar’s politics is currently passing through a transitional phase. Several senior leaders may take new decisions regarding their political strategies in the coming period.
Leaders who have so far been regarded as the chief minister’s most trusted associates could face the most impact.
At present, uncertainty continues in Bihar’s political environment. Discussions are underway not only among political parties but also within the state cabinet. Attention remains focused on the next political move by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, as his decision is expected to determine the direction of Bihar’s politics and the balance of power within the government.
