The Special Vigilance Court in Muzaffarpur has rejected the bail plea of Sudhir Kumar, the then District Agriculture Officer, who was arrested on charges of accepting a bribe of ₹19,000.

According to officials, a team from the Vigilance Investigation Bureau arrested Sudhir Kumar while he was allegedly accepting a bribe. He is accused of demanding ₹19,000 in exchange for completing an official task. Acting on a complaint, the vigilance department set a trap and caught him while he was taking the money.

Following his arrest, the vigilance team questioned Kumar and produced him before the court after completing the required legal procedures. He subsequently filed a bail application before the Special Vigilance Court in Muzaffarpur, but the court rejected the plea after considering the seriousness of the case.

Under legal procedures, a formal trial in the case will begin after departmental sanction is obtained. As Kumar is a government official, permission from the relevant department is required before prosecution can proceed.

Officials from the vigilance department said that the hearing in the case will be expedited once departmental approval is received. Further proceedings in court will then be based on evidence and witness testimony.

The vigilance department has been conducting ongoing action in corruption-related cases. In recent days, several government officials and employees have been caught while allegedly accepting bribes. Officials said the department is treating this case seriously and preparing to complete the remaining legal procedures.
