Plans are also being made to move the Prime Minister and several other senior leaders to secure locations. Over 300 military personnel have been deployed at the airport.

Protesters have occupied the private residence of President Ram Chandra Paudel. Not only was it occupied, but incidents of vandalism and arson have also been reported. This event is further deepening Nepal's political crisis.
Emergency and Curfew at the Airport
Preparations for an emergency are underway at Tribhuvan International Airport. The government has imposed a curfew in Kathmandu and several other cities. Videos circulating on social media show a large number of military personnel deployed at the airport and sensitive areas of the city.
19 People Dead in Violent Clashes
At least 19 people have died, and over 300 have been injured in protests that erupted in Kathmandu and other areas on Monday. The protests intensified against the ban imposed on social media sites.
Kalinga Literature Festival Postponed
The fourth Kalinga Literature Festival, scheduled to be held in Nepal's capital Kathmandu, has also been postponed due to the prevailing situation. The festival was supposed to take place on September 13 and 14 but has now been deferred to February 14 and 15, 2026. According to the organizers, more than 60 Indian and 200 Nepali writers were expected to participate.
Response from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)
India has expressed concern over the current situation in Nepal. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying that India is closely monitoring the events unfolding in Nepal. Deep sorrow was expressed over the deaths of several youths, and speedy recovery was wished for the injured.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India, as a close friend and neighbor, hopes that all parties will exercise restraint and resolve issues through peaceful means. Indian citizens have also been advised to remain vigilant and follow the guidelines issued by the local administration.
Why the Gen-Z Movement Erupted
The Gen-Z movement has emerged as a voice of youth discontent. The movement began against social media restrictions and the government's alleged repressive policies. Gradually, it has broadened its scope and transformed into a nationwide rebellion against the government.
