Nitesh Rane Claims Rohit Pawar Almost Joined BJP, Sparks Political Spat in Maharashtra

Political rhetoric has once again intensified in Maharashtra's political arena. This time, State Minister Nitesh Rane has made a significant claim regarding Rohit Pawar, the NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar's grandson and MLA from Karjat-Jamkhed, potentially joining the BJP. Rane stated that Rohit Pawar was close to joining the BJP in 2019 and was in contact with several party leaders. However, he also added that he ultimately did not join, but his inclination still lies towards the BJP.

Nitesh Rane Said—Rohit Will Have Nowhere to Hide

Fisheries and Ports Development Minister Nitesh Rane stated in a media interaction that if he were to start revealing which BJP leaders Rohit Pawar was in contact with, he would have nowhere to hide. He also claimed that Rohit's heart still lies with the BJP, even though he publicly stands with the NCP (SP).

Rohit Pawar's Counter-Attack

Rohit Pawar sharply retorted to Nitesh Rane's claim. He stated that he has been with the same party since the beginning of his political journey and has never switched sides. He taunted Nitesh Rane, saying that some people change parties just as they change clothes. Rohit also added that those who have their own feet in the mud should refrain from commenting on others.

Political Tension Increased After Party Split

It is noteworthy that the NCP split into two factions in 2023. One faction, led by Ajit Pawar, joined the government with the BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), which the Election Commission recognized as the real NCP. The Sharad Pawar faction received a new name and election symbol. Rohit Pawar is with this faction and has been consistently attacking the government. Nitesh Rane's latest claim has now further intensified this conflict.
