New Delhi: In its 219th board meeting, the Noida Authority decided that the ownership rights of individuals who have not carried out construction on their allotted plots for the past 12 years will be cancelled. Those who have started construction will be given a six-month period. This measure has been taken to fulfill the residential needs of the city, prevent urban disorder caused by vacant plots, and accelerate the city's development.

Those undertaking construction will get six months

The Authority has clarified that those who have commenced construction work on their plots will be given a six-month period to complete the work. During this time, they must finish their construction, failing which action may be initiated against them as well. Many plots in Noida have remained vacant for years, with construction not starting despite repeated notices.

According to a Money Control report, many individuals purchase plots solely for investment purposes, waiting for prices to increase. This is why land remains vacant for years. The Authority stated that this situation is detrimental to the city's development and residential needs. Such plots prevent needy people from obtaining homes and hinder urban planning.
