Noida: A serious incident has come to light in Gadi Chaukhndi village, Sector-121, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman was trapped in a love affair and forcibly converted. The woman is the mother of a 6-year-old child. The accused Raja Mian married the woman and changed her name to Khushboo Khatoon. On the instructions of the High Court, the police recovered the woman from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and arrested the accused Raja Mian along with his parents, sending them to judicial custody.
Woman Recovered on High Court Orders
Last month, the woman Priya Sharma filed a petition in the High Court stating that on August 3, Raja Mian alias Ehsan Hussain and Zahir Babu took her from her home. The victim alleged that she was held captive and could have faced harm.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the High Court ordered the Phase-3 police station to find the woman and produce her in court on September 8. Following this, the police formed a team and began searching for the woman in Tamil Nadu, eventually recovering her safely from Chennai.
Conversion Done Through Deception and Threat
During the investigation, the police discovered that Raja Mian had carried out the woman's religious conversion using fraud, inducement, and threats. Priya Sharma's name was changed to Khushboo Khatoon, and the two also solemnized their marriage on May 1, 2025, in Bahrampur village.
The police seized the marriage certificate, which contained a false name for the woman's father. The accused Raja Mian's father, Bismillah Mian, mother, Anisha Begum, and brother, Irshad, had assisted in this religious conversion. The accused's mother posed as the woman's aunt and his brother as her brother, exploiting legal loopholes. The Qazi, Mohammad Azimuddin, was also found to be involved in this act.
Legal Action on High Court's Instructions
Yogendra Singh, the in-charge of Gadi Chaukhndi outpost, has registered a case against a total of 5 people in this incident. The main accused Raja Mian, along with his parents, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The police are searching for the other accused, Irshad and Qazi Mohammad Azimuddin.
The woman has been presented in the High Court, and further legal proceedings will continue based on the court's directives. The police stated that the woman has not divorced her husband Shivam Sharma and also has a 6-year-old child.
