The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the death toll in Pakistan from June 26 to August 31 has reached 854. Additionally, over 1,100 people have been injured. The situation in the rain and flood-affected areas continues to deteriorate, and relief efforts are being intensified.
Over 2 Million People Affected
Punjab's Information Minister, Azyma Bukhari, stated that more than 2 million people have been affected by the severe floods in the province. She mentioned that the government has safely evacuated 760,000 people stranded in the floods. Furthermore, over 500,000 animals have also been moved to safer locations.
Heavy Rainfall in Lahore, Hafizabad, and Multan
According to data from Punjab's Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), districts of Lahore, Hafizabad, and Multan recorded over 60 millimeters of rain in the 24 hours leading up to 8 AM on Sunday. The authority reported that at least four locations received more than 120 millimeters of rain. This flood is considered one of the most severe in Punjab.
