Patna: In Patna, the capital of Bihar, candidates staged a b protest regarding police recruitment. A large number of aspirants took to the streets holding the tricolor and attempted to gherao the Chief Minister's residence. Considering the large crowd of protesters, heavy police force was deployed at the scene and barricades were put in place for security.

Main Reason for Protest

The protest by candidates in Patna regarding police recruitment is due to a lack of transparency in the examinations conducted by BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) and CSBC (Central Selection Board of Constable), and the delayed distribution of appointment letters. The candidates are demanding that the recruitment process be completely transparent and that the pending appointment letters be issued soon.

Matter Related to TRE-3 Examination

Recently, candidates also protested in Patna demanding the supplementary results of the TRE-3 teacher recruitment examination be released. At that time, the police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the protesters. SP Patna (Central), Diksha, had stated that security personnel requested the protesters to clear the area, but when the candidates did not comply, lathi-charge was used to disperse them.

Protesters claimed that several candidates were injured in the lathi-charge, although officials denied this. Patna resident and candidate Aman Kumar stated that the Education Department had assured that a letter had been sent to the BPSC regarding this issue, but no action has been taken so far.

Delay in Distribution of Appointment Letters

BPSC conducted the TRE-3 examination in March 2024, initiating the recruitment process for a total of 87,774 posts. However, only approximately 51,000 candidates have received their appointment letters so far. Candidates are complaining that they were initially assured of supplementary results being released, but this has not yet materialized.

Demands of the Candidates

The candidates demand that:

  • Pending appointment letters be issued immediately.
  • Transparency be ensured in the recruitment process.
  • There should be no discrimination of any kind in government examinations.

Results and appointment letters for cases like TRE-3 and police recruitment be issued on time.

Regarding this issue, candidates attempted to gherao the Chief Minister's residence. During the protest, aspirants took to the streets holding the tricolor and expressed their anger.

Police Security Arrangements

In view of the large crowd and potential tension, the police increased security. Barricades were erected around the CM's residence, and security forces were deployed. The police ensured that the protest was conducted peacefully, while maintaining control to avoid any untoward incident.
