New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Japan starting August 28 and to China starting August 31. In Japan, Modi will participate in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, while in China, he will attend the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit held in Tianjin. The focus of both visits will be on strengthening bilateral relations and discussing global strategic issues.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Modi's visit to Japan will be his first in approximately seven years and is entirely focused on the India-Japan bilateral agenda.
Prime Minister Modi to Attend Annual Summit in Japan
Prime Minister Modi will depart for Japan on the evening of August 28. On August 29 and 30, while participating in the summit, he will hold his first formal annual meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. This meeting will emphasize further deepening trade, investment, and technical cooperation between the two countries.
According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Modi and Ishiba will also hold discussions outside the capital during this summit, which will promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries. In addition, Prime Minister Modi will also meet with prominent figures from Japanese and Indian industry.
Modi to Participate in SCO Meeting in China
On August 31 and September 1, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the 25th meeting of the SCO Heads of State in Tianjin, China. The SCO was established with the aim of combating terrorism, separatism, and extremism, and currently has 10 member countries, including India, China, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, and several Central Asian countries.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Modi will participate in several bilateral meetings during this summit, which will include discussions on important strategic and economic issues.

The Foreign Secretary stated that the objective of both visits is to strengthen India's strategic and economic interests. The Japan visit will focus on trade and investment relations, while the SCO summit in China will address issues such as regional security, terrorism, and economic cooperation.
