PM Modi Visits Ahmedabad After Devastating Air India Crash

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad this morning, where he met with the families of the victims of the Air India flight AI-171 crash in the Meghaninagar area. This devastating accident, which left only one passenger alive out of 242, has shaken the entire nation.

PM Modi In Ahmedabad: The tragic incident that occurred on Thursday in Gujarat has plunged the entire nation into deep grief. Air India flight AI-171, bound for London, crashed in Ahmedabad's Meghaninagar area, resulting in the loss of 266 lives. Given the gravity of the accident and the immense human tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday morning. He visited the crash site and reviewed the relief and rescue operations.

PM Modi Visits Crash Site, Oversees Investigation

Prime Minister Modi arrived at the hostel complex in Meghaninagar, the site of the AI-171 wreckage, around 8:15 AM. He received detailed briefings from senior officials, central and state ministers, covering the plane's takeoff, flight duration to the crash site, the debris distribution, and a precise report of the relief and rescue efforts.

The accident claimed the lives of not only the 241 passengers on board but also 25 civilians on the ground. PM Modi also observed the damage in the areas surrounding the wreckage and commended the swift response of the NDRF, fire brigade, and police teams.

Meeting with the Sole Surviving Passenger at Civil Hospital

Nasir Kureshi, the sole surviving passenger of the Air India plane crash, is currently admitted to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Prime Minister Modi visited him and spent a few moments with him. The Prime Minister inquired about his health from the doctors and instructed that he receive the highest level of medical care. Later, the PM also spoke to Kureshi's family members, assuring them of all possible assistance from the central government.

High-Level Meeting with Ministers and Officials

During the Prime Minister's visit, he was accompanied by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol. A high-level review meeting was held, which included senior officials from the Airport Authority, DGCA, and Air India.

PM Modi stated: "This is an irreparable loss not only for Gujarat but for the entire nation. The government stands with the affected families, and assistance will be ensured at every level."

Air India Establishes Relief Centers

Following this horrific accident, Air India has set up special help desks in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and London's Gatwick Airport to assist the families of the passengers. These centers are providing immediate information, travel assistance, and counseling to the grieving families. According to an official Air India report, flight AI-171 took off from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM on Thursday. Just four minutes after takeoff, a technical malfunction was reported, and the plane crashed into a residential area.
