Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit flood-affected Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on Tuesday to assess the situation. Heavy rains and floods have caused widespread devastation in both states. PM Modi will conduct an aerial survey of the affected areas, meet the victims, and review relief and rehabilitation efforts.
PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday to assess the damage caused by heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. According to the schedule, PM Modi will arrive at Gaggal Airport around 1:20 PM by special aircraft. After this, at approximately 1:30 PM at the airport, he will hold a meeting with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other officials to review the devastation in the state. This meeting will continue until 2:15 PM. After the meeting, PM Modi will conduct an aerial inspection of the disaster-affected areas – Chamba, Mandi, and Kullu. In addition, PM Modi will also visit Punjab today.
Review of Relief Operations in Himachal Pradesh
Prime Minister Modi will arrive at Gaggal Airport, Kangra, on Tuesday afternoon by special aircraft around 1:20 PM. There, he will hold a review meeting with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, senior officials, and the disaster management team. The meeting will discuss the damage caused by floods in the state, the status of relief operations, and future strategies. The meeting will last for about an hour and a half. After this, the PM will conduct an aerial inspection of affected areas like Chamba, Mandi, and Kullu.
Extensive security arrangements have been made. Approximately 400 police personnel will be deployed, and the entire area will be monitored through drone surveillance. Kangra district has been declared a no-fly zone. During this period, air travel, paragliding, and other activities will be restricted. Before the Prime Minister's visit, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, and Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur have already arrived in Dharamshala.
Aerial Survey of Flood-Affected Areas in Punjab
After his visit to Himachal, Prime Minister Modi will reach Punjab around 3 PM. He will conduct an aerial survey of flood-affected areas and preside over a high-level meeting in Gurdaspur at approximately 4 PM. The situation will be reviewed in the meeting with NDRF, SDRF, Disaster Mitra teams, and administrative officials.
The PM will give necessary instructions to make relief operations more effective. Additionally, he will interact with flood victims to hear their problems and monitor the progress of relief efforts. The Punjab government has requested an interim relief package of ₹20,000 crore from the center. State Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, while welcoming the Prime Minister, stated that adequate support is expected from the center during this difficult time.
Furthermore, the government has also demanded the release of the pending amount of ₹60,000 crore from the previous year to accelerate relief operations. Opposition parties in Punjab, such as the Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress, have also urged the Prime Minister to provide a special relief package for flood victims.
