Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor launched a scathing attack on the central and state governments at the Bihar Badlav Jansabha held in Sitamarhi. He questioned the central government's silence on the attacks on Bihari youth in Maharashtra and termed the Election Commission's SIR process and domicile policy as an electoral ploy by the BJP and Nitish government. Kishor appealed for change.
Bihar News: At a public meeting held at Dumra Football Ground in Sitamarhi, Prashant Kishor cornered Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the BJP government over the attacks on Bihari youth in Maharashtra. He alleged that leaders who come to Bihar during elections remain silent on such incidents. Kishor described the SIR process as an attack on the voting rights of marginalized sections and called the domicile policy a ploy to mislead the youth. He appealed to the public to become aware and take steps towards change.
Amit Shah questioned over attacks on Bihari youth in Maharashtra
Prashant Kishor brought the central government into the dock, raising the issue of the assault on Bihari youth in Maharashtra for not speaking Marathi. He said that when the Bharatiya Janata Party is in power in Maharashtra, and MNS workers in the same state beat up the youth of Bihar, why did Home Minister Amit Shah and the entire central government remain silent? Kishor claimed that Amit Shah comes to Bihar during elections, gives speeches, but when children of Bihar are attacked, he does not react.
He described this issue not just as a political one, but also a matter of social concern, and said that it is a question of Bihar's identity. Kishor accused Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Rahul Gandhi of being merely electoral leaders, alleging that they do not spend even one night in Bihar except during elections.
Serious allegations against BJP in Election Commission's SIR case
Prashant Kishor also leveled serious allegations against the central government, and especially the BJP, regarding the voter list verification campaign being conducted under the Election Commission's SIR (Systematic Investigation of Roll). He said that the commission is trying to remove the names of people from poor, marginalized, and minority communities from the voter list. Kishor appealed to the people not to panic because the Supreme Court has clearly directed that every person who has an Aadhaar card has the right to vote.
He also claimed that if anyone's name is removed from the voter list, he himself will fight the legal battle for them. Kishor also indicated that even if names are removed, the remaining voter base will be enough to defeat the BJP.
Domicile policy termed an election stunt
Prashant Kishor also raised questions about the Bihar government's recent announcement of implementing the domicile policy in the teacher recruitment TRE-4. He said that so far, in TRE-1 to TRE-3, about three lakh teachers have been appointed, and most of them were outside candidates. Kishor alleged that before the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in his ambition to become the Prime Minister, gave jobs to people from outside states in Bihar, and now this ostentatious policy is being brought in before the Assembly elections.
He also said that if the government is implementing the domicile policy, then it should clarify what percentage of posts will be given to the youth of Bihar. Kishor called it a step to deceive the youth and said that the government has become nervous due to the increasing public support for Jan Suraaj, and under this pressure, decisions are being taken on issues like pension, honorarium and domicile.
Appeal for change from the public meeting
During his address, Prashant Kishor appealed to the youth and the public of Bihar to understand the ostentatious announcements and electoral tactics of the governments and move forward in the direction of change. He said that in the past twenty years, no government has made any concrete improvements in the state, only announcements have been made at the time of elections. Kishor, describing Jan Suraaj as a hope, expressed confidence that if the public gives him an opportunity, he will lay the foundation for policy reforms and transparent governance in Bihar.
