New Delhi: On the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, President Droupadi Murmu, in a message to the countrymen, called for reiterating commitment against all forms of terrorism. She stated that on this day, we remember the supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers and citizens who laid down their lives in defense of the nation.

In her social media post, the President wrote that on the night of November 26, 10 terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba, who arrived from Pakistan via sea route, carried out a horrific terrorist attack in Mumbai. In this attack, 18 security personnel and a total of 166 people lost their lives. She stated that we can never forget their sacrifice, and the nation will always be grateful for their courage and dedication.

President's Tribute Message

President Droupadi Murmu stated that on the anniversary of the 26/11 attacks, she humbly pays tribute to our brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives while defending the nation. She added that the nation remembers their supreme sacrifice with gratitude and respect.

History of the 26/11 Mumbai Attacks

On November 26, 2008, terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out coordinated and organized attacks in Mumbai city. The terrorists targeted the Taj and Oberoi Hotels, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Nariman House, Cama Hospital, Metro Cinema, and Leopold Cafe.

This attack shook the entire nation. The terrorists held the city in terror for 60 hours. During this time, 166 people, including civilians and security forces, were killed. This attack motivated India to strengthen its anti-terrorism policies and further improve its security arrangements.
