New Delhi: On the 17th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to the martyrs and emphasized India's counter-terrorism policy. He stated that the Modi government's zero-tolerance policy is clear, and the entire world is commending India's anti-terrorism operations. Amit Shah called terrorism the biggest curse on humanity and urged countrymen to take it with utmost seriousness.

Memories of the 26/11 Attacks

On the night of November 26, 2008, 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, who arrived from Pakistan, launched an unprovoked attack of terror on Mumbai. Entering the city via the sea, the terrorists attacked several locations for the next 60 hours. The main targets included the Taj and Oberoi Hotels, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Nariman House, Cama Hospital, Metro Cinema, and Leopold Cafe. These places were frequently visited by foreign travelers.

The attack claimed the lives of 166 people and left many injured. Among them were 18 security personnel who sacrificed their lives to protect the nation. The 26/11 attacks shook not only Mumbai but the entire country.

Amit Shah's Tribute Message

Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Wednesday that the people and government of the country would always remember the sacrifices of the martyrs. He said, “On this very day in 2008, terrorists carried out a cowardly attack on Mumbai, committing a heinous and inhumane act. I salute the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during this period and pay homage to all those who lost their lives in the attack.”

On November 26, 2008, terrorists targeted the Jewish center Nariman House, Taj Hotel, Oberoi Hotel, Cama Hospital, Metro Cinema, and Leopold Cafe in various parts of Mumbai. The terrorists, who arrived by sea, held the city in terror for approximately 60 hours. The attack resulted in the deaths of 166 people, including civilians and security personnel.
