Priyank Kharge Demands Ban on RSS Activities in Karnataka Government Institutions; BJP Slams Move

Karnataka's IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge wrote to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, demanding a ban on RSS activities in government schools, colleges, and temples. The BJP opposed this, calling it a political accusation.

Bengaluru: Karnataka's IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge has written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, demanding a ban on the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in government schools, colleges, public parks, and government temples. The letter alleges that the RSS is brainwashing children and youth and spreading unrest through its workers, which poses a threat to the unity and integrity of the country. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh to investigate the matter and ordered appropriate action.

Demand for Ban on RSS

In his letter, Priyank Kharge stated that RSS 'shakhas' (branches/daily gatherings), meetings, or assemblies should not be allowed in government and aided schools, public parks, playgrounds, and archaeological sites. According to him, the organization is sowing seeds of hatred, and its workers carry sticks and weapons in public places without police permission.

He said, "We should not allow government grounds and public places to be used for their mass brainwashing. If their philosophy were good, why wouldn't the children of BJP leaders join it?"

BJP Opposes Proposed Ban

The BJP has opposed this move. State President B.Y. Vijayendra stated that it reflects the Congress's intolerance towards the growing popularity of the RSS. He claimed that there is no instance of indiscipline by RSS workers, and the organization remains a b nationalist force.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also said that banning the entry of RSS in some places would not bring about any significant change.

Priyank Kharge's Statements

Priyank Kharge clarified that RSS activities brainwash young people and are against the Constitution. He stated that the organization uses the poor and vulnerable sections of society for its philosophy, while not adhering to its own principles.

Criticizing the RSS's methods, he said, "They say 'Hindus are in danger, produce more children,' but they themselves remain bachelors. This activity of theirs is harmful to the Constitution and society."
