Brothers Preetpal and Devinderpal Singh Hanspal of Hanspal Traders have prepared over 70 boats for people stranded in the Punjab floods and sent them to the affected areas. They have also made the boat designs public to inspire other manufacturers to join in the relief efforts.
Chandigarh: The floods in Punjab have disrupted life in many parts of the state. During this time, two brothers, Preetpal Singh Hanspal and Devinder Pal Singh Hanspal, have emerged as saviors for the flood-affected people. The owners of Hanspal Traders, a company that manufactures parts for the Rail Coach Factory, are building specially designed boats to safely evacuate people and their cattle stranded in the floods. So far, the two brothers have prepared approximately 70 boats and sent them to flood-affected areas such as Ajnala, Harike Pattan, Mand Baopur, Patiala, and Bathinda.
'Bera' and Small Boats Safe Even in Strong Currents
Preetpal and Devinder stated that their small boats can easily carry 10 people. Meanwhile, the specially designed large boat, the 'Bera', has a capacity of 20 tons. Farmers can use this large boat to safely evacuate their cattle, agricultural equipment, or combine harvesters.
They also mentioned that these boats are not being built just for profit but for aiding people and for relief work. This time, they have made their boat designs and techniques public, so that other manufacturers can also contribute to this cause.
Preetpal and Devinder's Boats are Lifesavers
During the 2023 Sultanpur Lodhi floods, independent MLA Rana Inder Pratap Singh urged these brothers to build boats. At that time, 15 boats were made. This year, as floods began to affect many parts of the state again, Preetpal and Devinder started receiving calls from various parts of the state, including messages from government officials.
The MLA stated that this year they have commissioned 12 boats from the company. First, the large 'Bera' boat with a 20-ton capacity was prepared, which was used to safely evacuate stranded people and their cattle. He added that all resources are being utilized to expedite relief operations.
Boats Essential for People, Cattle, and Relief Materials in Floods
The boats made by Preetpal and Devinder are not limited to safely evacuating people. These boats can also be used to easily transport stranded cattle, agricultural equipment, and other relief materials to safe locations. The specialty of these boats is that they are b, durable, and remain safe even in the b currents of the floods.
The brothers mentioned that by making the boat-building technology and designs public, other manufacturers can now also participate in this work to help farmers and flood-affected people. This step is a significant move towards collective cooperation and community service in flood relief.
Hanspal Brothers Appreciated for Flood Relief Efforts
The assistance provided by the Hanspal brothers in the flood-affected areas of Punjab is highly appreciated. Local administration and civil relief organizations have honored both brothers for their contribution. People have stated that individuals like them serve as beacons of hope in society, providing relief and safety during difficult times.
Preetpal Singh said, "We are not doing this for profit, but to help people. Those who are already capable of manufacturing equipment can easily prepare these boats. Our aim is to ensure that help reaches people as quickly and safely as possible."
