Rajasthan Braces for Heavy Rainfall; Dausa Schools Closed Amidst Widespread Downpour

Jaipur and 31 districts of Rajasthan are expected to experience heavy rainfall today. Schools in Dausa have been declared closed due to heavy downpour. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts.

Jaipur: An alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Jaipur and 31 districts of Rajasthan today. The Meteorological Department stated that the active phase of the monsoon has been ongoing for the past 15 days and is likely to continue for the next two days. All schools in Dausa district have been declared closed due to heavy rain and waterlogging.

Very heavy rainfall warnings have been issued specifically for the districts of Banswara, Dungarpur, and Jhalawar. Additionally, heavy rainfall alerts are in place for Baran, Bharatpur, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Kota, Udaipur, and other districts.

Torrential Rain in Jaipur and surrounding districts

Torrential rains lashed Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Kota, and other districts on Wednesday, September 3rd. In Jaipur, just two hours of rain led to waterlogging in several areas. Water levels rose up to three to four feet in Subhash Chowk, Chand Ki Taksaal, and MD Road, causing long queues of vehicles and inundating hundreds of shops and homes.

A house collapsed in Jhunjhunu, resulting in the death of one person buried under the debris. In Kota, train traffic was affected as soil and stones were washed away from under the railway tracks, causing trains to halt for several hours. In Dausa district, a police van collided with a truck during heavy rain, injuring two policemen.

Schools closed in Dausa due to heavy rain

All schools in Dausa district have been closed due to heavy rainfall. The administration has advised citizens to exercise caution and avoid venturing into waterlogged areas.

The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rainfall and localized flooding may occur in many districts of the state within the next 48 hours. In this regard, citizens need to be aware of the potential impact on road and rail traffic.

Heavy rainfall warning in 15 districts

According to the Meteorological Department, 72 mm of rain was recorded in Wazirpur of Sawai Madhopur on Wednesday. Hindoli in Bundi received 70 mm, Shakkarghad in Bhilwara recorded 58 mm, and Nagar in Bharatpur registered 55 mm of rainfall.

Districts including Sikar, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Nagaur, Pali, Karauli, and Jhalawar recorded rainfall between 30 to 55 mm. These figures clearly indicate that the active monsoon phase has not yet subsided.

Heavy rainfall to continue for the next two days

The Meteorological Center Jaipur informed that the spell of heavy rainfall will continue for the next two days. People are advised to stay away from electric poles, riverbanks and drains, waterlogged areas, and open spaces. The administration and disaster management departments have increased their vigilance in anticipation of the impact on road and rail traffic.
