In the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) – a constituent of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) – and a Union Minister, has hinted at his strategy for the 2030 elections.
Patna: Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and a Union Minister, has given significant indications regarding the state's politics in the context of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. He revealed that while he did not get the opportunity to contest for the Chief Minister's post this time, his b focus will remain on upcoming elections and Bihar's politics in the future.
In an interview, Chirag Paswan stated that he did not get the chance to become Chief Minister in this election, but his focus remains on future elections and political activism in the state. He said, “Every party wants its leader to reach the highest position. It was also my father's wish that I remain active in my state and work for the people of Bihar.”
Paswan clarified that the alliance has currently chosen Nitish Kumar as its priority for the Chief Minister's role. He stated, “During our discussions, it was already made clear by the alliance partners that the elections would be fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Therefore, any other discussion currently holds no meaning.
Politics Focused on Bihar
Chirag Paswan also stated that the next four to five years would be dedicated to focusing on Bihar. He mentioned that due to delays in the election process, he could not contest elections from Bihar this time. He said, “My constant objective has always been to do something for the people of Bihar. I grew up in Delhi, worked in Mumbai, but the condition of Biharis always remained in my mind.”
He further added that he had witnessed a period in Bihar when even the word 'Bihari' was used as an insult. This is why he believes that only by returning to active politics in the state can he strengthen the voice of his community and fellow state residents.
Father's Legacy and Politics
Chirag stated that his father, Ram Vilas Paswan, always made it clear that his political focus was more on the center. However, Chirag Paswan has now decided that Bihar and its people will be his priority. He said, “I proudly say that I am a Bihari. And I want to see this pride in the eyes of every Bihari.”
This statement makes it clear that Chirag Paswan is preparing to change his political stance and fully focus on Bihar. He indicated that in the coming years, Bihar will be the center of his activities and efforts.
