Dhanteras 2026: Gaya Utensil Market Expects Business of Over ₹10–12 Crore

Gaya's markets prepare for Dhanteras 2026 amid rising prices, with utensil traders expecting business of over ₹10–12 crore and a one-gram gold coin priced at ₹14,400.

Markets across Gaya have stepped up preparations ahead of Dhanteras, with traders expecting increased consumer spending despite higher prices of gold, silver and metal utensils. The festival will be celebrated on Friday, November 6, 2026. Sales of gold and silver coins, utensils, televisions, refrigerators and two-wheelers are expected to increase during the festive occasion.

Although prices of several products have risen compared with last year, retailers have stocked goods based on customer preferences. Traders expect consumers to continue purchasing products according to their requirements and budgets despite the increase in prices.

Major commercial areas in Gaya, including Tower Chowk, Laheria Tola, KP Road, Shahid Road, Bajaja Road, Ramna Road and GB Road, have completed preparations for the festival.

Retailers have stocked new designs of utensils and different varieties of gold and silver coins to cater to customer demand.

Buying gold, silver and utensils is a traditional part of Dhanteras celebrations. Consequently, jewellery and utensil markets generally witness higher customer footfall on the occasion compared with regular trading days.

This year, rising prices could affect consumers' purchasing budgets. However, retailers expect customers to make purchases according to their financial capacity and requirements.

Consumers purchasing utensils this Dhanteras may have to spend more than they did last year. Prices of utensils made from several metals have increased by ₹300 to ₹400 per kg compared with the previous year.

In Gaya's markets, brass utensils are priced between ₹1,100 and ₹1,350 per kg. Bronze utensils are available at prices ranging from ₹1,380 to ₹2,800 per kg, while copper utensils cost between ₹1,800 and ₹2,200 per kg.

Shops in Tower Chowk and Laheria Tola have stocked plates, bowls, glasses, spoons, woks, pressure cookers, jugs and cooking pots. Some retailers are also offering discounts to attract customers during the festive season.

According to Ranjit Kumar Tamrakar, district president of the Utensil Traders' Association, demand for utensils remains high during Dhanteras as well as Chhath Puja. Consumers pay greater attention to the durability and quality of products during the festive period.

He estimated that business in the utensil market could exceed ₹10–12 crore this year.

The jewellery market is among the key areas of focus during Dhanteras. Jewellery stores along Shahid Road, Bajaja Road, Ramna Road and GB Road in Gaya have stocked different varieties of gold and silver coins for the occasion.

Purchases during Dhanteras are not expected to be limited to gold, silver and utensils. Electronics retailers and two-wheeler dealerships are also anticipating increased sales during the festival.

Electronics showrooms across the city have stocked several models of LED televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and mobile phones. Premium LED televisions priced between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.20 lakh are also available in the market.

Electric bikes are also attracting customer interest. Some consumers are considering electric vehicles as an option to reduce their expenditure on petrol.

Several showrooms have already received advance bookings from customers seeking delivery on Dhanteras.

Traders expect two-wheeler sales to increase on the festival day. However, the actual business figures will become available only after the completion of Dhanteras purchases.

With gold and metal utensils becoming more expensive, consumers may need to plan their purchasing budgets carefully this year. The market offers several options, ranging from smaller coins to expensive jewellery and household products.

Retailers have completed their preparations for the festival. The purchases scheduled for Friday, November 6, will indicate the extent to which higher prices have affected sales in Gaya's markets.
