Uttar Pradesh's First Forestry and Horticulture University in Gorakhpur: Foundation Stone Ceremony Postponed

The foundation stone-laying ceremony for Uttar Pradesh's first Forestry and Horticulture University in Bhariwaisi, Gorakhpur, scheduled for November 2, has been postproposed to be built on around 123 acres of land.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony for Uttar Pradesh's first Forestry and Horticulture University, proposed to be established in the Campierganj area of Gorakhpur, has been postponed. The ceremony was scheduled for November 2, but the programme could not take place as planned. The Forest Department is now awaiting a new date from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath before making further arrangements.

Administrative preparations for the proposed university had been underway in Gorakhpur for several days. The foundation stone was scheduled to be laid by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on November 2, with different departments assigned responsibilities for organising the event.

The tehsil administration had undertaken land-levelling work at the proposed venue. Meanwhile, the Public Works Department (PWD) had started installing a German hanger tent for the ceremony. Cleaning operations were also underway in the surrounding area, with municipal council workers engaged in improving sanitation along the main road leading to the venue.

However, the foundation stone-laying programme was subsequently postponed. No clear information has been made available regarding the reason for the postponement. Officials are currently waiting for a revised date to resume preparations for the ceremony.

Uttar Pradesh's first Forestry and Horticulture University is proposed to be established at Bhariwaisi in the Campierganj area of Gorakhpur. Around 123 acres of land have been identified for the project.

The selected site falls within the Gorakhpur Forest Range and the jurisdiction of the Pharenda tehsil in Maharajganj district.

In view of the administrative location of the land, there have been discussions at the local level about including Bhariwaisi in Campierganj tehsil. However, no final decision on the matter has been announced.

The proposed university will provide an institution dedicated to education in forestry and horticulture. The project is currently at the pre-construction stage, and the progress of subsequent work will become clearer after the foundation stone is laid.

During the preparations for the foundation stone-laying ceremony, the Principal Secretary of Forests had visited the district and inspected the proposed university site.

He reviewed the arrangements underway at the location and issued necessary instructions to Forest Department officials.

Despite the postponement of the ceremony, departmental preparations have been directed to continue. Officials are seeking to ensure that arrangements can be resumed without difficulty once the Chief Minister's availability is confirmed.

The Forest Department and the local administration are continuing to oversee the necessary work at their respective levels. However, no official announcement has been made regarding the revised date of the ceremony.

The next schedule of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is now the key factor in determining the date of the university's foundation stone-laying ceremony. Officials expect to receive confirmation of his availability, following which a new date for the event will be decided.

Gorakhpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Shubham Singh said that work was being carried out in accordance with instructions received from senior officials. The Forest Department is currently proceeding with preparations based on further directions.

The proposed university in Campierganj is significant for Uttar Pradesh as it will be the state's first university dedicated to forestry and horticulture. Its establishment is expected to create new opportunities for education and research in these fields.

The focus is now on the announcement of a revised date for the foundation stone-laying ceremony. The commencement of construction and the subsequent stages of the project will become clearer through future official updates.
