Patna’s bullion market has begun preparations for Dhanteras and Diwali, with jewellery retailers reporting increased customer interest ahead of the festive season. The Pataliputra Bullion Association has released gold and silver rates for 3 November 2026. According to the association, 24-carat gold was priced at Rs 13,870 per gram, while silver stood at Rs 1.82 lakh per kg. Several jewellers have also started offering advance booking facilities and festive offers.
Demand for gold and silver jewellery typically increases in the run-up to Dhanteras and Diwali, with customers visiting jewellery stores to explore new designs and check prices. While some buyers are preparing to purchase jewellery for weddings, others are considering gold coins and silver articles for the festive occasion.
According to the rates released by the Pataliputra Bullion Association on 3 November, 24-carat gold was priced at Rs 13,870 per gram in Patna. At this rate, 10 grams of 24-carat gold cost Rs 1,38,700, excluding GST and other applicable charges.
The price of 22-carat gold, commonly used in jewellery, stood at Rs 12,705 per gram. Accordingly, 10 grams cost Rs 1,27,050. The final purchase price of gold jewellery may be higher after adding making charges and applicable taxes.
For customers considering other purity options, 18-carat gold was priced at Rs 10,105 per gram, while 14-carat gold was available at Rs 8,190 per gram.
Silver remains another option for festive purchases, particularly during Dhanteras, when demand for silver coins and small household articles increases.
According to the Pataliputra Bullion Association's rate card dated 3 November, 999-purity silver was priced at Rs 1,82,000 per kg. Meanwhile, 990-purity silver was quoted at Rs 1,80,000 per kg.
Silver jewellery prices varied according to purity. Silver with 925 purity was priced at Rs 179 per gram, while 800-purity silver was quoted at Rs 161 per gram.
Jewellery retailers in Patna have started preparations for the festive season, with several stores introducing advance booking facilities ahead of Dhanteras. Retailers expect customer footfall to increase as the festival approaches.
The facility allows customers to select specific jewellery designs, including rings, chains and necklaces, and place orders in advance. This arrangement is intended to reduce waiting time for customers collecting their purchases during the festive rush.

Some jewellery stores are also offering information about making charges and other festive offers. However, offers may vary from one retailer to another.
Customers booking jewellery in advance are being advised to check whether the applicable gold rate will be determined on the booking date or the date of delivery. Those making advance payments are also required to obtain receipts containing details of the jewellery's weight, purity, amount deposited and outstanding payment.
The final amount payable for gold and silver jewellery may be higher than the rates announced by the bullion association. The rates released by the association do not include the three per cent GST, while making charges and other applicable taxes may also increase the final bill.
For instance, 22-carat gold was priced at Rs 12,705 per gram in Patna on 3 November. At this rate, 10 grams of gold cost Rs 1,27,050.
Adding three per cent GST of Rs 3,811.50 brings the total to Rs 1,30,861.50. This amount does not include jewellery-making charges.
Making charges vary according to the design and craftsmanship of the jewellery. A simple gold chain and a necklace with an elaborate design may therefore carry different making charges.
Customers purchasing gold jewellery should also check the BIS hallmark and HUID number. The purchase invoice should separately mention the gold weight, carat, making charges and applicable taxes. Information about the retailer's exchange policy is also relevant for customers who may wish to exchange or sell their jewellery in the future.
With Dhanteras approaching, jewellery retailers in Patna are preparing for increased festive demand. Gold and silver prices may change after 3 November, making the prevailing rates on the purchase date relevant to the final transaction.
