The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has released its full list of 143 candidates for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The party has once again placed b reliance on its traditional 'Muslim-Yadav' (M-Y) equation.
Patna: In view of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has released its full list of 143 candidates. This time, the RJD has strategized to contest the elections by relying on its traditional 'Muslim-Yadav' (M-Y) equation. This move appears to end the ongoing uncertainty regarding seat-sharing within the Mahagathbandhan (INDIA bloc).
Youth Power under Tejashwi Yadav's Leadership
RJD's young face and former Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, will once again contest from his bhold, the Raghopur seat. This time, 24 women candidates have been given an opportunity in the list, while several sitting MLAs have also received tickets again. The party has fielded approximately 35 Yadav and 18 Muslim candidates. This is a clear indication that the RJD is fully prepared to strengthen its core vote bank.
This move by the RJD indicates that the party is relying on both the anti-incumbency sentiment and social equations in Bihar. Focusing on the M-Y equation could strengthen the party's traditional vote bank.
Impact of Seat Sharing in Mahagathbandhan

Although the RJD has released a list of 143 candidates, there is an overlap of candidates on some seats with other Mahagathbandhan constituents, such as Congress and some regional parties. For instance, candidates' names are clashing on seats like Narkatiaganj, Sultanganj, Kahalgaon, and Sikandra (SC).
All eyes will be on these "friendly contests." Political experts believe that some candidates on these seats might withdraw their names at the last moment to maintain harmony within the alliance.
