A heated debate erupted in the Rajya Sabha between Leader of the Opposition Kharge and BJP President JP Nadda regarding Operation Sindoor. Kharge raised questions, and Nadda responded sharply.
Parliament Monsoon Session: In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of the Opposition and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated his support for the government on the issue of terrorism. He stated that whenever the country has faced a terrorist attack, the entire opposition has stood with the government. Kharge clarified that the Congress has unconditionally supported the government on all such occasions so that the country can stand united against terrorism.
Terrorists Still Absconding, Question of Action
In his address, Kharge said that the terrorists who killed our soldiers and citizens and then fled are still roaming free. He raised a question in the House as to why strict action has not been taken against them so far. No concrete response has been received from the government on this matter till now.
Anger Over Trump's 'Mediation' Remark
In his speech, Kharge also mentioned the statement made by former US President Donald Trump in which he claimed to have played a mediating role in stopping the war between India and Pakistan. Terming it against India's honor, Kharge said that such statements should be rejected outright. He said that Trump made this statement 24 times, which is against national dignity.
JP Nadda Objects to Kharge's Remarks
Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha and BJP President JP Nadda objected to Kharge's statement. He said that Kharge initiated a discussion on the details of Operation Sindoor, which cannot be done under Rule 267. Nadda stated that it should only be discussed under Rule 167. He said, "This is a violation of the rules, and we want the whole country to know that the government is not running away from discussion. We want a complete dialogue on Operation Sindoor."
'Such an Operation Never Happened After Independence'
JP Nadda emphasized that an operation like Operation Sindoor has happened for the first time after independence. Targeting the Congress, he said that such a precise and courageous military operation has never been seen before. Nadda also clarified that some parts of Kharge's remarks would not be taken on record because he had violated the rules.
Amidst this entire episode, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha ensured that Operation Sindoor would be discussed. He said that he had accepted the proposal on it and that there would be a discussion under the rules. After this, the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 12 noon.
