Ravindra Chavan Likely to Become Maharashtra BJP President

Maharashtra: The Maharashtra BJP is set to get a new state president soon. The post has been vacant since the current president, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, became the Revenue Minister. In the meantime, Ravindra Chavan's name has emerged as the best contender. He is an MLA from Dombivli in Thane district and is currently the party's working president.

BJP accelerates organizational election process

The Bharatiya Janata Party has initiated the process of selecting state presidents and members of the national council in the states under the national organizational elections. Under this, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has been appointed as the election officer in Maharashtra. Similar senior leaders have been given this responsibility in other states as well.

In the recent executive meeting held in Nagpur, the then president Chandrashekhar Bawankule also indicated that Ravindra Chavan is a suitable candidate for the post of president. This statement is being seen as support for him in many political circles.

According to BJP sources, the party may soon announce the state presidents in Maharashtra and several other states. It is believed that Ravindra Chavan may be formally appointed as the state president by the end of June or the beginning of July.
