After an 18-year long wait, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by Virat Kohli, finally clinched the IPL title in 2025. Their fans celebrated this victory with great enthusiasm. The very next day after the final, a victory parade was also organized in Bengaluru.
Sports News: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured their first IPL title after an 18-year wait. By defeating Punjab Kings in the final, RCB brought immense joy to their fans. However, the day after winning the title, 11 people died due to a stampede during the victory parade held in Bengaluru.
This incident not only shocked RCB fans but also raised questions about the future of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. No matches have been held at the stadium since the stampede, and it has not yet been selected as a host venue for IPL 2026 or the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.

Impact of Ban on Chinnaswamy Stadium
Due to this unfortunate incident during the final's parade, the Karnataka government and stadium administration imposed a ban on Chinnaswamy Stadium for security reasons. This ban has forced RCB to look for an alternative stadium for their home matches. Kamlesh Pisal, Secretary of the MCA (Maharashtra Cricket Association), stated in an interaction with the media that RCB has been offered a stadium in Pune to play their matches.
Discussions are currently underway, but it has not been finalized yet. There are some technical issues that need to be resolved. If everything goes well, RCB could play all their home matches in Pune.
Pune Could Become the New Home Ground
The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune could now become RCB's new potential home. If this change comes into effect, RCB fans will not get the opportunity to watch matches in Bengaluru, and the team will have to shift its home games to Pune. The MCA Stadium has successfully hosted domestic and international matches in the past. Its modern facilities, secure parking, and high-security arrangements make it a suitable venue for IPL matches.
The stampede incident in Bengaluru has raised questions about stadium security. Officials have stated that security will now be even stricter. Both the RCB team and the organizing committee are vigilant regarding security standards. While hosting matches in Pune will create new opportunities for the team, fans will also enjoy cricket in a safe and comfortable environment.
