The incident occurred on the day of Karwa Chauth.
The deceased was identified as Ramji Saini, approximately 48 years old, a resident of Azad Nagar Colony. He worked as a fitter (mechanic) at the Rawatpur Roadways workshop.
It was reported that he had been instructed to repair an electric pole. He already had an injury or a rod in his leg. Despite this, he accepted to work at that height.
He fell from a height of approximately 18 feet.
His colleagues rushed him to LLR Hospital in a critical condition, but he passed away either before reaching the hospital or during treatment.
There was a delay in informing the family about the incident — it was reported that officials informed his relatives in the afternoon.
Following the incident, the deceased's family put pressure on the Roadways officials — they demanded a job in the department, financial assistance, and assurance against eviction from their home. The family caused a commotion at the post-mortem house.
Police forces from several stations, the Roadways GM, and senior officials were present at the incident site. The police and officials assured the family that all possible assistance would be provided as per rules.
