Artificial Intelligence: OpenAI CEO and recent father Sam Altman said in Indian entrepreneur Nikhil Kamat's podcast, People by WTF, that Artificial Intelligence will greatly help humans in family and child-rearing in the times to come. Describing the declining population as a serious problem, he said that people will have more resources and time in the post-AGI world, which will make parenthood easier.
Concerns about Parenthood and Declining Population
During a conversation on Indian entrepreneur Nikhil Kamat's podcast People by WTF, Altman said that the declining birth rate is a serious problem in today's world. He said that the biggest priority in the coming times should be to strengthen family and community.
He clearly stated, 'Family and community give us the most happiness. I hope that in the coming years people will once again understand their importance and engagement with them will increase.'
How AI Will Change the Parenthood Experience
Sam Altman believes that when Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), i.e., AI that can think and make decisions like humans, is created, society will change completely.
He says that AGI will provide humans with more resources, time, and opportunities. When the burden of daily tasks is reduced, people will be able to focus more on raising children and spending time with family.
According to Altman, 'In the post-AGI world, the importance of family and community will be greater than ever.'
Experience of Becoming a Father and AI's Help
Altman described the initial months of becoming a father as very special, saying that it has been the most satisfying and important experience of his life. He jokingly called himself 'kid-pilled' — a person who is completely lost in the world of children.
He also admitted that when his child was newly born, he often asked ChatGPT questions related to parenting and baby care. In this way, he proved that AI can be helpful to people not only in professional work but also in personal life.
Why is it Important to Teach AI to Children?
Altman believes that using AI will be as important for the coming generation as reading and writing. In an interview given in June 2025, he jokingly said, 'My children will never be smarter than AI, but they will be able to do things that we cannot even imagine.'
He wants his children to understand AI well from childhood and learn to use it as a tool.

Altman is not the only one in Silicon Valley who is openly talking about the population crisis and parenthood.
