Local residents have stated that this is not only dangerous for health but also a betrayal of trust for the poor population. Rajendra Negi and Aarti Bisht, residents of Chamba, Tehri, purchased salt from a government ration shop and upon pouring it into a bowl, clearly visible sand particles were present.

Official Confirms Investigation
Tehri District Food Supply Officer Manoj Kumar Dobhal has stated that an investigation will be conducted, considering the seriousness of the matter. He explained that the salt distributed under the Chief Minister's Salt Nutrition Scheme is fortified. This process is carried out entirely according to standard regulations and includes essential nutrients.
However, in view of the gravity of the news regarding sand being found in the salt, the official has ordered an investigation by a competent authority to examine the quality of the salt.
