Record-Breaking Devotion: Shri Sanwaliyaji Temple Receives Over ₹40 Crore in Cash Donations

Shri Sanwaliyaji Temple in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, shattered donation records with over ₹40 crore in cash offerings after a two-month strongroom opening. Counting of gold & silver is still underway, hinting at an unprece

The counting of donations, which began this time after a two-month hiatus at the broom of the world-renowned religious site and Mewar's center of faith, Shri Sanwaliyaji Temple, located in Mandafiya, Chittorgarh district, Rajasthan, is continuously ongoing.

Chittorgarh: This time, a wave of devotion has surged from the world-famous Shri Sanwaliyaji Temple, located in Mandafiya, Chittorgarh district, Rajasthan, breaking all previous records. After two months, the temple's donation broom was opened, and the cash offerings have already exceeded 40 crore rupees (400 million rupees), while the counting of gold and silver is still pending. It is thus estimated that Sanwaliya Seth's total treasury could reach an unprecedented historical level this time.

So far, five rounds of counting have been completed by the temple administration, but the note-counting machines are still running non-stop. In the fifth phase alone, a cash amount of 4 crore 19 lakh 79 thousand rupees (41.979 million rupees) was found. With this, a total of 40 crore 33 lakh 39 thousand rupees (403.339 million rupees) has been received in cash offerings to date.

Strongroom Opened After Two Months, Everyone Amazed by the “Rain” of Notes

When the broom of Shri Sanwaliyaji Temple was opened after a two-month interval, the sheer power of devotion surprised everyone on the very first day. According to Prabha Gautam, Chief Executive Officer of the Temple Board, 12 crore 35 lakh rupees (123.5 million rupees) were counted on the first day alone. Subsequently:

  • Second Round: 8 crore 54 lakh rupees (85.4 million rupees)
  • Third Round: 7 crore 8 lakh 80 thousand rupees (70.88 million rupees)
  • Fourth Round: 8 crore 15 lakh rupees (81.5 million rupees)
  • Fifth Round: 4 crore 19 lakh 79 thousand rupees (41.979 million rupees)

The counting was suspended on November 22 and 23 due to heavy crowds. The process was then resumed. A new record is being set every day, making it clear that this time, the amount of offerings is writing a new chapter in the temple's history. Last year, after Diwali, a two-month counting period saw Shri Sanwaliyaji Temple receive offerings of 34 crore 91 lakh 95 thousand rupees (349.195 million rupees), which was the largest record until then.

However, this time, the cash amount alone has already surpassed that figure. Small notes, coins, online donations, checks, and gold and silver ornaments from several sacks are yet to be weighed, so the final figure could be even larger.

Why Did Donations Increase This Time?

According to Hazari Das Vaishnav, Chairman of the Temple Board, the broom had not been opened for the past two months due to the Diwali festival, allowing devotees' offerings to continuously accumulate in the donation boxes. Additionally, a large number of devotees arrived from India and abroad for darshan (holy viewing). Devotees believe that donations given to Sanwaliya Seth return many times over, and this faith is considered the biggest reason behind this record-breaking offering.

Sanwaliya Seth is revered not only in Mewar but by millions of devotees residing in India and abroad as the “God of Wealth.” Worshippers believe that sincere donations bring prosperity into life. This is why thousands of devotees visit the temple daily even on regular days, and this number multiplies manifold during festivals.
