The 39-year-old Dhawan's name is reportedly linked to advertisements for the 1xBet app. The ED is trying to ascertain if he used his popular image to promote this app and if he received any financial benefits in return. The questioning is being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency is also investigating whether Dhawan had any partnership or financial interest in this network.

The ED is currently investigating cases related to several illegal betting apps. These apps are accused of causing losses of crores of rupees to millions of investors and users and have also been involved in tax evasion. Earlier, the ED had also questioned former cricketer Suresh Raina in the same case. During questioning in Delhi, Raina was asked about the app's promotion and financial transactions. The ED simply wants to ensure that there were no financial or non-financial partnerships related to his association or promotion of this app.
