Mumbai: Legal troubles have intensified for Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra. The Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch) of Mumbai Police has issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against the couple in a Rs 60 crore fraud case. This action comes at a time when the couple frequently undertakes international travel.

What is the case?

According to an official, a case was registered against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra at Juhu Police Station on August 14 for allegedly defrauding a businessman of approximately Rs 60 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal. A serious investigation has been launched against both under these fraud allegations. Mumbai Police cited the reason for issuing the lookout circular as the couple's frequent foreign travel and the need to monitor their activities.

What is a Look Out Circular?

A Look Out Circular (LOC) is a legal process used to prevent a person from leaving the country or to monitor their activities. It is typically implemented to issue alerts to immigration and border control checkpoints. Under this procedure, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra cannot travel abroad unless permitted by a court or the investigating agency. This step is taken with the objective of facilitating the investigation and preventing the accused from absconding.

The Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police is actively investigating this case. Officials have stated that detailed information regarding their bank transactions, investment documents, and business deals is being collected.
