New Delhi: Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, unveiled a magnificent 25-foot statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Athani, Karnataka. He described the occasion as historic, stating that it is not merely the unveiling of a statue, but a firm commitment to convey the spirit of India’s self-respect, courage, and Hindavi Swarajya to future generations.
Scindia stated that the land of Belgaum and Athani has witnessed the bravery and strategic campaigns of Shivaji Maharaj. He explained that this region was extremely important during Shivaji Maharaj’s campaigns in South India, as it ensured the security of routes connecting the Deccan, Konkan, and Goa.
