Karnataka Congress: Siddaramaiah Snubs D.K. Shivakumar, Ignites Internal Conflict

Differences between Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar have once again surfaced in Karnataka. During an event in Mysore, the Chief Minister refused to mention the Deputy CM's name.

Karnataka Politics: In Karnataka politics, differences between two top leaders of the Congress party have once again become public. The distance between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is now openly apparent. Recently, during an event held in Mysore, Siddaramaiah explicitly refused to mention Shivakumar's name from the stage. Following this incident, discussions about internal strife within the Congress have intensified once again.

Tension Emerged at the Event

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, a special program called 'Sadhana Samavesha' was organized in Mysore with the aim of showcasing the achievements of the Congress government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah attended this government program as the chief guest. When a Congress leader advised him to mention D.K. Shivakumar's name during a speech, he angrily rejected the suggestion.

Siddaramaiah said from the stage, "D.K. Shivakumar is currently in Bangalore; he is not present here. We only welcome those who are present at the event. How can we say hello to those who are at home?"

Anger Among Supporters and Political Statements

Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar's supporters are deeply angered by the Chief Minister's attitude. Some senior party leaders have termed it extremely disrespectful. A close leader said, "If D.K. Shivakumar did not work hard for the party, Congress would not have returned to power. At the very least, the Chief Minister should have mentioned his name."

This is not the first time that news of tension between the two leaders has surfaced. A few days ago, in an interview, Siddaramaiah had said that Shivakumar's influence in the party is limited and only a few MLAs are with him. Since this statement, the relationship between the two leaders has become even more strained.
