Sonbhadra: Police Recover 8 Kg Ganja From Abandoned Bike, Traffickers Flee

During a vehicle inspection in Sonbhadra, police recovered 8 kg of ganja from an abandoned bike. Traffickers fled into the forest, and authorities are now working to identify the suspects involved in the drug bust.

On Saturday night, during a vehicle inspection conducted by the police in the Dala area of Sonbhadra district, eight kilograms of ganja were recovered from a bike. Upon seeing the police, the traffickers abandoned the bike and their bags and fled towards the forest.

The motorcycle did not have a number plate, but the chassis number revealed that the bike is registered in the name of Prince Maurya, a resident of Siki Khurd Khamariya village in Prayagraj. Police are engaged in identifying the traffickers.

Prior to this, in 2024, Sonbhadra police had also arrested two interstate traffickers with ten kilograms of ganja. After questioning, the police had sent them to jail. Another accused in the case was absconding.

In other news, recently, due to an increase in the water level of the Rihand Dam, five gates were opened, releasing approximately 42,000 cusecs of water. Officials from the irrigation department stated that the water inflow had suddenly intensified, which led to this step being taken.
