South Africa's Innings – Brevis's Magic

After losing the toss and being put in to bat first, South Africa did not have a great start. The team lost three wickets within 57 runs — captain Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius returned to the pavilion cheaply. In this difficult situation, Brevis took charge and formed a brilliant 126-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs for the fourth wicket.

Stubbs contributed 31 runs, after which Brevis took the lead alone, continuing to bat aggressively. He completed his century in just 52 balls, smashing a flurry of fours and sixes, and remained unbeaten till the end. Brevis scored a total of 125 runs, including many attractive shots. Thanks to his innings, South Africa scored 218 runs for 7 wickets. For Australia, Glenn Maxwell and Ben Dwarshuis took 2-2 wickets each, while Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa got 1-1 success.

Brevis Included in Elite List

Brevis has become the eighth batsman to score a century for South Africa in T20 Internationals. Only David Miller has scored a century in fewer balls than him. Miller achieved this feat in just 35 balls against Bangladesh in 2017. Brevis has now joined the elite list of legends like Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, and Miller.

Australia's Innings – Shaky Start

Chasing the target of 219 runs, the Australian team had a poor start. Aiden Markram sent Travis Head (5) back to the pavilion in the very first over. After this, Quinton Mahlabaekwana Mafaaca dismissed Cameron Green (9). Captain Mitchell Marsh played some good shots, scoring 22 runs in 13 balls, but he could not play a long innings.

In the middle order, Tim David batted aggressively and scored 50 runs off just 24 balls (4 fours, 4 sixes). However, other batsmen could not contribute much. Glenn Maxwell (16), Mitchell Owen (8), Alex Carey (26), Ben Dwarshuis (12), Sean Abbott (1), Adam Zampa (0), and Josh Hazlewood (remained unbeaten) tried to handle the innings, but the team was all out for 165 runs in the 19th over.

For South Africa, Quinton Mahlabaekwana Mafaaca and Corbin Bosch took 3-3 wickets each, while Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, and Peter Coetzee got 1-1 success each. With this win, South Africa has leveled the three-match T20 series 1-1. Now, the third and decisive match of the series will be played in Cairns on August 16, where both teams will face each other for the title.
