Students across the country have taken to the streets to protest technical issues, distant exam centers, and paper cancellations in the SSC Phase 13 examination. #SSCmismanagement is trending on social media.
SSC Phase 13 Protest: There is widespread anger among students across the country regarding the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Phase 13 examination. Protests are continuously being registered on social media with the hashtag #SSCmismanagement. From Patna to Delhi, students are protesting on the streets, demanding a fair recruitment process.
What is the SSC Phase 13 Examination?
SSC Selection Post Phase 13 is a direct recruitment examination conducted by the central government. Through this, candidates are appointed to Group C and Group D posts in various ministries, departments, and organizations of the Government of India. This examination is based on 10th, 12th, and graduation level qualifications and includes posts like Data Entry Operator, Clerk, Technical Operator, Junior Engineer. The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions for which candidates are given 60 minutes.
What were the irregularities in the examination?
During the SSC Phase 13 examination conducted on July 24, 2025, many technical glitches were observed. Computer systems crashed at numerous examination centers, affecting both the time and mental energy of the examinees. In some places, the system failed as soon as the exam started, while at some centers the examination was canceled midway.
Students say that they were given exam centers so far away that they had to travel a day or two in advance. Upon reaching many centers, it was discovered that the examination had been canceled.
Where were the examinations canceled?
Complaints have been received from several cities including Ghaziabad, Hubli, Lucknow, and Bhopal. The examinations scheduled from July 24 to 26 at Pawan Ganga Educational Center 2 in Delhi were canceled. In Hubli, the morning shift on July 24 had to be canceled due to a technical glitch. Following this, SSC announced that the examination for these candidates would be conducted again from July 28.
What did the examinees say?
Raman, a student protesting in Delhi, said that invigilators were talking on mobile phones in the exam hall while students are prohibited from bringing mobile phones. He said that this examination is for Level 6 and Level 7 posts, which are of Grade B level. Such negligence cannot be accepted.
Another student, Shekhar, said that his mouse stopped working during the examination, due to which he could not attempt the paper properly. He said that this is a crucial exam for his life and his career has been jeopardized due to technical glitches. He also alleged that his preferred cities were ignored and he was sent to a remote center like Dehradun.
Questions over the condition of examination centers
Students also reported that the arrangements at the examination centers were very poor. In many places, the behavior of the staff was inappropriate, and some teachers were talking on the phone during the examination. All this raises serious questions about the central government's examination system.
Teachers also expressed opposition
Some teachers in Delhi's Jantar Mantar also supported the students in this protest. However, they were taken into custody by the police. Despite this, the issue gained momentum on social media and #SSCmismanagement became a top trend.
Questions on the role of the government and the commission
Students allege that both SSC and the government are ignoring the complaints of the students. A new centralized system was introduced, but there were many shortcomings in its implementation. Earlier, large companies like TCS used to conduct the examination, but with the change in the system, technical problems have also increased.
What are the demands of the students?
The main demand of the students is that SSC Phase 13 examinations should be conducted in a fair and transparent manner. Action should be taken against the officials responsible for the irregularities at the examination centers, and the affected students should be given a chance to re-appear for the examination. Also, a guarantee should be given that such technical negligence will not happen in the future.
