Administrative authorities in Sultanpur conducted a raid on a gas agency following information about alleged black marketing of cooking gas cylinders and seized 44 cylinders during the operation. A case has been registered against two individuals, including the agency owner.
According to officials, the administration received information that cooking gas cylinders were being illegally traded in the area. After receiving the complaint, the concerned authorities initiated an investigation and carried out a raid at a gas agency.
During the raid, officials found a large number of cylinders under suspicious circumstances.
During the inspection, authorities recovered a total of 44 gas cylinders, which were seized. Preliminary findings indicated that the cylinders were allegedly being prepared for illegal sale instead of being delivered to consumers through the prescribed distribution process.
Based on these findings, a case was registered against the agency operator and one other individual.
Officials stated that black marketing of essential commodities such as gas cylinders is a serious offence. They said such activities create difficulties for consumers and lead to artificial shortages in the market.
Authorities added that strict action is being taken in such cases.
The administration also stated that if information about hoarding or black marketing of gas cylinders is received at other locations, immediate action will also be taken there.
Officials have urged the public to inform the administration if they receive information about such activities.
Police have registered a case against the two accused and started an investigation. Officials said a detailed probe is underway and action will be taken against any other individuals found involved in the case.
The seized cylinders have been kept in safe custody and further legal procedures are continuing.
