Sultanpur: The Railway Overbridge (ROB) located on the Ayodhya Highway has been completely closed for traffic due to its deteriorated condition. Barricading has been erected by piling up mounds of earth on both sides of the bridge to prevent any possibility of an accident.

According to information, a few days ago, the construction agency repaired potholes on the bridge and laid slabs on damaged sections, but the work remained incomplete. The materials used for the repair had not fully settled, making it risky to allow traffic on the bridge. Considering the situation, the police took immediate action and closed the overbridge.

Following the closure of the ROB, traffic has been diverted on several routes in the district. This bridge is considered a crucial route for movement between several districts, including Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Varanasi. Vehicles coming from the Ayodhya side are being directed via Bhulki Bypass → Domuha–Pakharoli → Four-lane.

Vehicles heading towards Ayodhya from Lucknow, Raebareli, and Amethi are being routed through Amhat → Sabzi Mandi → Hanumanganj → Domuha road.

Vehicles arriving from the Prayagraj direction are being diverted from Hanumanganj → Domuha. After the road closure, the pressure of vehicles has increased on alternative routes, leading to traffic congestion in the Hanumanganj, Domuha, and Kamtanganj areas. People are taking longer to cover their intended distances, and daily commuters are facing considerable difficulties.

Officials state that traffic on the overbridge will only be resumed once repairs are completely finished and the bridge is declared safe. For now, people have been appealed to follow the traffic diversion and to avoid unnecessarily increasing congestion on the mentioned routes.
