Crime is continuously increasing in Haryana. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala has accused the BJP government of failing in maintaining law and order. He said that 45 people are being kidnapped daily in the state.
Haryana: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala has launched a scathing attack on the BJP government regarding the law and order situation in Haryana. During a press conference held at the Congress office in Chandigarh, he stated that Haryana has transformed into a state ruled by mafia and gangsters. Surjewala expressed concern over the rising crime rates, saying that common people feel unsafe due to the government's failure.
NCRB and District-wise Figures Presented
Randeep Surjewala cited several official crime statistics, stating that crime is continuously increasing in the state. He said that reports from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and media reports clearly show that murder, kidnapping, and crimes against women have increased rapidly in Haryana.
He stated that from January to March 2025, i.e., in just three months, 4,137 kidnapping cases were reported in the state. This means that an average of 45 people are disappearing every day. 872 people have gone missing from Karnal district alone.
District-wise Murder Statistics are also Concerning
Surjewala reported that in the last seven months:
- 41 murders in Faridabad
- 38 in Gurugram
- 38 in Jind
- 25 in Panipat
- 21 in Kaithal
- 20 in Karnal
- 18 in Kurukshetra
- 15 in Yamunanagar
- 11 in Sirsa
These figures indicate that crime is becoming rampant throughout the state.
Government Held Responsible
Surjewala directly held the BJP government of Haryana responsible for this. He said that the law and order in the state has become so weak that even if God himself were to come here, he would need Z+ security. He said that from common people to businessmen, politicians, and even police officers are unsafe.
Foreign Links of Gangs and Government's Silence
He alleged that many gangs from countries like Canada, Dubai, and Australia are active in Haryana. The state government itself recently admitted in a meeting that about 80 gangs are active in Haryana. If the government and police work honestly, action against these gangs is possible immediately. He said that in a viral video, a police officer of DSP level was seen apologizing to a BJP leader, which shows that there is political pressure on the police and their morale is falling.
Political Parties are also Receiving Threats
Surjewala said that crime is not limited to the general public. Political leaders are also being targeted. He described the threat received by Abhay Singh Chautala as very serious, saying that there may be political opposition to him, but his safety is equally important.
